Each year, a conference theme is chosen that highlights one perspective on global issues. During the conference, students will participate in this theme via a service project. Over the years, service projects have become a hallmark of YMCA Civic Engagement Programs. Students not only come to Y-MUN II to debate—they come to learn how to make a real and positive impact on the world.

This year, to reinforce the theme of Respect for All, Y-MUN II is collecting donations for At Jacob’s Well (https://atjacobswell.org/) to support efforts to provide transitional housing and supportive services (http://atjacobswell.org/services/transitional-housing-program/) for low income, mentally ill men and women.

Specifically, we will be collecting the following items:

  • Trash bags
  • Toilet paper
  • Light bulbs
  • Dish detergent
  • Bars of bath soap
  • Canned goods
  • Bottled water
  • Bed linens
  • Lamps
  • Handheld gardening tools
  • Kitchenware (including flatware, dishes, and small appliances)
