Step 1: Form a delegation (September – November 9th):

  • A group of students interested in participating in the program along with a teacher or other adult chaperone (i.e. an advisor) is all that is required to form a delegation! You can start forming your delegation as early as September. Use this time to get in touch with students who have participated in the past and to recruit new delegates.
  • Contact Jaclyn Mahoney, Y-MUN II Volunteer Program Director, via email at jmahoney@ymcace.org, and Jen Segelken, Vice President of Strategic Advancement at YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties, via email at jens@ymca-bc.org to inform them of your intent to participate.

Step 2: Register and request assignments (September – November 9th):

  • Advisor will complete a Delegation Enrollment Form and mail conference fee deposits ($100 per student/advisor) along with Credentials (one per student/advisor) to the program office:

YMCA Model UN Program
YMCA of Burlington & Camden Counties
59 Centerton Road – Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054

  • In addition to mailing those items, please also email the Delegation Enrollment Form to Jaclyn Mahoney, Y-MUN II Volunteer Program Director, via email at jmahoney@ymcace.org.

Step 3: Receive assignments & begin research (September – November 16th):

  • After receiving the request, the program staff will process your enrollment request and return your country assignments.
  • Students should research their assigned countries and topics to complete their Country Research Questionnaire (CRQ).

Step 4: Final document submissions (December 14th):

  • Each student needs to submit a CRQ. Advisors are responsible for compiling the CRQs from their delegations and sending them to Jaclyn Mahoney, Y-MUN II Volunteer Program Director, via email at jmahoney@ymcace.org.
  • Advisors need to submit:
    – Updated Delegation Roster (via email to jmahoney@ymcace.org)
    – Hotel Form (via email to jmahoney@ymcace.org)
    – Balance of Program Fees (one check per delegation via mail to YMCA address listed under “Step 2”)
    – Additional Delegate Credentials (via mail to YMCA address listed under “Step 2”)

Step 5: Prepare for conference (November – January 11th):

  • Students should focus on learning rules of parliamentary procedure, practicing resolution writing, speaking in front of their peers, and participating in mock debates. Lesson plans for facilitating that learning process can be found here.
  • Advisors should review all conference details with their students, including:
    – Transportation details
    – Dress code and packing guidelines
    – Conference schedule and expectations for conduct
  • Students and advisors should also use this time to collect donations for the annual service project.

Step 6: Attend the Y-MUN II conference (January 11th through January 13th 2019):

  • Plan to arrive to the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center (West Chocolate Avenue & University Drive – Hershey, PA  17033-0446) by 9:00am for check-in & conference registration.
  • Bring a positive and open mind as delegations from several states come together to debate, learn, and grow.

Note: All documents and forms can be found on the Forms page.
